A. UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS who would like a letter of recommendation from me
Check 1. Work — If you have RAed for me, and we had a good experience working together, you automatically get a letter of recommendation.
If you have not worked with me, then you must meet these requirements:
Check 2. Grades — You have received an A/A- in a class that I have instructed.
Check 3. Interactions — You have some engagement with me beyond just attending class and doing assignments. If we have not spoken before, it’s going to be very difficult for me to write a good recommendation.
Check 4. Planning ahead — You have sent me your CV or resume, a picture of your face, and a rationale for behind your application at least a month in advance. The reason for the picture is so I can remember who you are, especially if it’s been a while since you were in class.
B. GRADUATE STUDENTS who would like a letter of recommendation from me
You must check one of the following items;
Check 1. Work — You have TAed or RAed for me, and we had a good experience working together OR
Check 2. Mentorship — You and I have worked together on a co-authorship, your dissertation, or your job materials OR
Check 3. Grades — You received an A/A- in a seminar that I have instructed
If you meet one of the previous criteria, then:
Check 4. Planning ahead — Send me your CV and a rationale for behind your application at least a month in advance.
